Yesterday, Sean and I drove to Richmond for a little sunshine and Memorial Day laziness. We walked around Carytown all afternoon, people/bicycle-watching, mostly just enjoying the summertime. My favorite things about Richmond are simple; I like seeing bicycles on balconies, pavement buckling on city roads, beautiful old houses side by side and sharing the shade of tall trees. I bought a hat from a shop whose back room was filled with old wedding dresses and tuxedos. A fat lady cat followed me around a bookstore, licking my ankles and purring. Tied to a tree, there was a sign asking bicyclists to respect nature and lock their bikes to the rack across the street. We ate delicious sushi in a corner booth while nineties rock played on the radio.
